The Costume Maker is paramount in supporting the Costume Manager to cut, fit and make costumes for new productions for the Company. We are seeking a seasoned period costume maker, who excels in drafting designs from various formats, collaborating with designers and dressmakers to ensure completion schedules are met
The role is responsible for overseeing the work of an assistant and will be required to tour with the Costume Manager for rehearsals, opening of re-vamped/new productions (UK only), ad-hoc fittings, in addition to supporting management and colleagues with auditions, photoshoots/galas, etc.
This post is a maternity cover required to start as soon as possible to end of March 2021.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Attributes, Experience and Skills and Knowledge
• Extensive experience of working in a professional workroom as a cutter/costume maker.
• Experience of working with period costumes.
• Experience of Tutu making is advantageous.
• Excellent manual dexterity with superb attention to detail.
• Clear, confident communication (verbal and written), with active listening skills.
• Efficient time management to deliver against conflicting deadlines with a focused and calm approach.
• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills; externally and within the Company.
Salary
Circa £28, 000 per annum.
Hours of working
35hours per week, (Monday – Friday). Daily hours may vary on occasion, with flexibility to work hours to suit needs of the business.
Normal place of work
English National Ballet, 41 Hopewell Square, London E14 0SY, other locations when on tour.
