Communications Assistant - Visual Arts

Fixed term contract until June 2019

Hours: 17.5 hours per week

Starting salary of £22,480 per annum (pro-rata) inclusive of London Weighting and depending on performance and experience

The Communications Department of the Barbican Centre leads media relations and communications strategy for an inspiring programme of world-class artistic events and creative learning activities across all major art forms (art, theatre, dance, music and film), and maintaining and growing the Centre’s reputation as a world-class arts and learning organisation.

The Barbican Centre is seeking a part time Communications Assistant to provide administrative assistance to the Senior Communications Manager for Visual Arts.

You will have proven experience of working in a busy office, preferably within an arts environment. You will have excellent copy writing and verbal communication skills as well as good computer and database skills.

You will deal with general press enquiries, image, ticket, photography and other requests, maintaining office systems and keeping documents updated. You will also be liaising with agents, managers and external PR agencies, and assisting with financial administration. It is essential that you have excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage time and urgent tasks in a structured way.
