Production / Installation Manager, Discover Children's Story Centre

We are hiring a freelance Production/Installation Manager to manage the installation of our upcoming exhibition; someone with strong all-round exhibition installation and fit out experience, including construction management, lighting and AV work with a background in installing exhibitions in non-traditional installation spaces.

Discover is a hands-on creative literature charity for children aged 0-11 years and their families/carers dedicated to generating a love of language, literature, and stories. Discover works alongside bestselling authors and illustrators to create a rotating host of immersive installations.

Duties
•With the Creative Team, be responsible for the exhibition installation process ensuring the design and build is realised, to the highest possible standard.
•To be responsible for day-to-day costing, monitoring, reporting, and spending of agreed amounts on production materials, props, labour and other technical items.
•Leading on any new set build and construction, working closely with the designer (Discover). Practical build skills will be required.
•Assembling and managing a team of technical staff to ensure the successful delivery of the exhibition.
•Overseeing technical installation of lighting and sound. Liaise with the Lighting and Sound Designer to install from plans.
•Ensuring that the set/installation complies with all relevant Health and Safety and fire regulations.
•To schedule day-to-day production work so that it is completed and ready for the specified time within the agreed budget.
•To be responsible for the organisation and maintenance of workshop areas, equipment and the storage spaces during the period of the contract.
•Prepare a Risk Assessment for the exhibition liaising with the Deputy CEO
•Complete handover with the Operations Team

A full driving license with experience of driving vans is desirable.

You will need to be available for:
•An agreed amount of pre-production days between May 2018 and the delivery of the exhibition.
•The entire get in of the exhibition (Jan 7th2019– February 17th2019)

Project Fee: £3000-5000 to be negotiated on agreed time commitments and experience.
